Help Molly go to Guatemala!

Hola! I'm Molly Steenhoven, a teen passionate about cultivating leadership and gaining worldly views. Every day, I strive to engage my community and learn more. I work with my school to restore our gardens. I participate in the Wassmuth Youth Leader Program, a non-profit, to integrate and recognize human rights in Idaho. I am the only freshman in Beta Club; a volunteer program. This is my first year as a member of Model UN, and so far I have learned the value of communication among foreign governments.

Over my spring break in April 2025, I will be flying to Guatemala for ten days. This journey is organized by a hardworking and determined non-profit, Vivid Roots. They have worked with my school previously to support students and Guatemalans. In Guatemala, I will be visiting Antigua, Santiago, El Paredon, and Quixayá, In Santiago, I will help bring fresh water to isolated indigenous, and in-need communities. In El Paredon, I and others on the journey (20 students and 4 chaperones) will work with a non-profit baby turtle hatchery to ensure these endangered creatures' survival. In addition to volunteering, we'll have time for surfing, paddleboarding in mangroves, yoga, and exploring local shops. My adventure to Guatemala will help communities in need, and in return, I will get to learn more about the unique traditions and culture of Guatemala. This trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I would be honored if you help me get there.
